THE HEALING GARDEN

Two weekends

Weekend 1 - THE HERB GARDEN

Meet 20 common herbs. Hear about their medicinal properties and actions and how to use them as teas, mixed decoctions, various infusions, in cooking, as tinctures and as applications. Each herb has a character with special uses to calm and restore body functions and this is described with stories from direct experience and handed down through history, which give us our traditions of use. Linda's stories, and others shared by the group help us become familiar and close to these healing companions. Touch them, smell them, drink them.

Workshop is experiential supported by demonstrations. We go walking locally to identify them and collect them in the wild. We make medicinal strength decoctions and infusions.

Weekend 2 - LOTIONS AND POTIONS

How to make fresh herb tinctures with brandy and vinegar. Watch demonstrations of how to make tinctures, oxymels, oil infusions, lotions, creams, and ointments - then make them with guidance from Linda. Find out how to use these preparations by turning them into delicious drinks to enjoy with family and friends - honey syrups and cordials. Take home what you make.

Workshop is hands-on experiential. Participants are given information sheets, including recipes, and will take home products made. Ingredients used include infused oils, tinctures, vegetable and nut oils and butters, beeswax, vinegar, essential oils. Some are provided.

We use NO toxic chemical additives or preservatives, NO acids or colours, NO toxic emulsifiers, NO sulphates or parabens, NO thickeners, NO animal derivatives..

MAKE FOOD YOUR MEDICINE

Come and learn about your body. Travel through your digestive system with guided meditations and meet how you function, where your emotions become physiological functions or unease. Learn how to care for your system with herbs and food combining. Meet the medicinal herbs growing around Tanmaya's garden on Gulaga and meditate with them, find your familiars in the herbal world. Then we cook with them and feast.

Friday 7-9p.m.

Come and discuss what you want from the weekend and we'll sip brandy and wine herb tinctures and herbal honey syrups while we talk.

Saturday - MEDITATING AND MEETING - HERBS AND YOU 10-5p.m.

We start with walking and talking, meeting herbs and talking about what they do inside you. Then we meditate and take you on a journey through your digestive system, what happens where, how it feels, why it feels, how to recognise when different sections are struggling, the emotions which help and hinder at different places. After lunch we talk about some of what you found and food combining. Then we meditate with herbs - checking in with the ones you resonate with.

Sunday - COOKING WITH HERBS AND THE FEAST 10 - 5p.m.

Checking in with your digestive system - as morning meditation. Making herbal sauces, salad dressings, herbal vinegars, infused herbal brandy and wines are all demonstrated. Then you help prepare foods filled with herbs and we all feast.

Workshop is experiential. Participants are given information sheets on herbs, food combining, recipes, digestive system processes and we eat what we make. Please bring food to share for morning and afternoon tea and lunch on Saturday. Food on Sunday is provided.
